Originating in several vineyards of baga installed exclusively in clay-limestone soils, it expresses the Atlantic character of Bairrada wines and the typical texture of limestone baga.
Each plot of vineyard is harvested manually at different periods in order to reach optimum maturation levels. As soon as they reach the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and taken to small deposits. In order to better express the identity, the fermentation is conducted by indigenous yeasts and the extraction is very soft. It ages in used barrels for a minimum period of 18 months.
The nose shows the classic elegance of baga and the freshness characteristic of Bairrada. The palate is delicate where the acidity shines and persists accompanied by very soft and polished tannins.

"The simplicity of this wine belies the quality of its fruit: Five days after opening the bottle, a friend and I were sharing some house-made sushi and, looking for a red wine for the last bites of the meal, I tried a taste of this baga, only to find it still markedly fresh—and pretty great with ahi tuna. While it had been herbal when first opened, with a tomato leaf note, the lean tension in the acidity had sustained a bright cherry flavor, lasting on salt-tinged fruit. That first day, it seemed like a good, healthy wine, an impression proven on the fifth." - Joshua Greene (Feb/2021)
